A home energy monitor is fitted at your switchboard and shows what your home is using, and what your solar is making, as it happens. You can check it on your phone.
A common sign
“The bill went up and we’ve no idea why.”
About home energy monitoring
An energy monitor uses small sensors clipped around the cables in your switchboard. It records how much power the house uses and, if you have solar, how much the panels make and how much goes back to the grid.
Fitting it means working inside the switchboard, so it needs a licensed electrician. Some monitors measure single circuits too, such as the hot water or the air conditioner, which helps you decide what to upgrade next.
A power bill you can’t explain
Seeing what your solar actually does
Deciding what to upgrade next
Ask which circuits the monitor can measure on their own, and whether it works with your solar inverter and battery.

Not sure where to start?
Don’t waste money on upgrades you don’t need. A professional home energy assessment shows where your house loses heat and power, so your budget goes where it makes the biggest difference.

More in lighting and controls
Swap old halogen and fluorescent lights for LEDs, put the lights on sensors and timers, and see where your power actually goes. Electricians who do this work every day.

Old halogen downlights and fluorescent tubes swapped for LEDs through the house. They use less power, run cooler and last much longer.

Sensors, timers, smart switches and dimmers, so lights go off in empty rooms and only come on when they’re needed.
